Tú and Usted
You may have noticed that there are TWO ways to ask someone their name, where they are from, or how they are doing.
This is because Spanish is such a polite language that it has two ways of talking to someone: informally or casually (like a friend or family member) and formally for anyone you are showing respect to (like a stranger, a boss, or a doctor).
The tú is usually included only for emphasis, as in “How are YOU?”
In the same way, ¿De dónde eres? = ¿De dónde eres tú?
This is because that verb ending in -s makes the subject understood.
PLEASE consider making a donation or becoming a member.
Thank you so much for the encouragement, Friend! 😀
